Hawker Comet (P1048)
As a measure against the failure of the Meteor programme the government ordered 150 Hawker P1048s to be named the Comet in RAF service. The aircraft mainly operated with the fighter training schools and went through an amazing number of marks through to the Mk 22, each one tailored for a specific training related role.
The one pictured is the single seater Mk10 in service with the Central Flying School at RAF Cottishall in 1971.
